A Welcome

Helping K9s  from the Heart

……  to keep dogs happy and healthy with their families & companions –  they are  social by nature, feel  and suffer as we do – they need our help.

Welcome to Helping K9s where you will learn  about the situation of canines in this world, how it is related to you and us and what we can do. Each year, 3-4 MILLION dogs,  of which 95 % only have the issue of not being wanted, get killed in the USA in shelters for space. At the same time, 12 million dogs get bought each year By American families. The fate of dogs is inextricably tied to and reflects ours, the humans here, since the beginning of our journey together  on this planet. Dogs are unique in their relationship to us, maybe because they are the most social and family oriented land creatures next to us.

WE CAN BE A NO KILL NATION !

So this is not just about helping K9s, it is also about YOU, about beginning to see the mirror dogs are for us, about getting inspired, about getting (re)- connected with a deeper part of your heart, your life and being. It is about working together and taking the next step in speaking up and action to contribute to the course of a world you want to see for yourself, our children & for animals everywhere.

For daily up-to-date posts and happenings, we maintain our Helping K9s facebook page

This is for those who love dogs,  love animals and nature and are ready to expand their vision and being to include earth’s  creatures and sentient beings  and are looking for cause,  inspiration and compassion in action steps. If all this interests you, please

Be sure to check out Natural Dog Training. Links to the best sources are provided in the sidebar. Natural Dog Training will transform your relationship with your dog. Why dog training – because the number 1 cause of death for dogs is – not cancer, not accident, not old age ….no, it is  problem behavior. Here is the heartbreaking example of a little Artica.

For a number of different reasons,  shelters and rescues are overrun with literally millions of unwanted, often abused and injured animals. For millions of dogs every year in the USA  alone, the scary shelter is their last stop on earth. They need our help, the animals deserve our help.

No longer able to just do nothing in the face of such misery and death so many dogs have to go through, I am following a simple but strong impulse that is not letting up  -> to help dogs -> Helping Canines –> Helping K9s any way I am able to at any given time.

As a first step, in the summer of 2011, I started with the Helping K9s websitededicated to raising awareness,  to inspire  helping shelter dogs to get and stay  out of shelters and be happy with their human companions and advocating a free life for our  wild canine friends, the wolves. All dogs deserve a happy life. All people and dogs deserve to be safe around each other – and may every human discover the deep and magic connection we share with dogs, our closest companions on planet earth.

Just because I can’t foster or adopt and don’t have a lot of free time or money does not mean I can’t do anything.

There is a huge awakening movement for animals out there. The plight of literally millions of dogs is horrible. We are c alled to help dogs  have a life where they can run, do dog things, be happy and well behaved in the company of canine and human friends. We see a world in which the deep connection of humans and dogs can find a healthy expression. We have been fellow travelers together on this planet since the very beginning or our existence.

“Do not let yourselves be discouraged or embittered by the
smallness of the success you are likely to achieve in trying
to make life better. You certainly would not be able, in a
single generation, to create an earthly paradise. Who could
expect that? But, if you make life ever so little better, you
will have done splendidly, and your lives will have been
worthwhile.” ~ Kristin Kucsma

And the good part is, there are many ways you can help this situation. If you own a dog, make sure to train him/her. Non-social and sometimes aggressive behavior can make it difficult for dogs to stay where they are, in their families. Such behavior also buys them a death sentence as number 1 leading cause of death in this country. After much research, the most compatible dog training with the deepest nature of dogs appears to be Natural Dog Training.

Started volunteering and networking –  a slow process for sure, but every time I see those eyes behind bars …..

Created a facebook page – you are invited to “like” it and participate. I’d love to see you there – and it helps.

If you don’t have a dog, you can still help support the shelters and rescues who take care of so many unwanted, discarded or abused dogs and other animals. You can get involved in the children and art programs. There are many ways to help. We have several projects to get involved in.

Created the Happy Paw Amulet: NEW July 15, The Happy Paw Amulet. Check it out!  as a way to contribute to the change that needs to happen while giving a beautiful gift.

Then I enrolled in dog training school – as it turns out many dogs don’t make it out of shelters due to behavior problems, they are the first to die – and I continue to read and educate myself about dogs, why they do what they do, and who and what they are and in relation to humans.

November 18, 2011 – applied for corporate status with the intention to become a non-profit

Helping K9s is a contribution inspired by a dog who stole my heart Skye, a German Shepherd Husky. She had the key to a door in my heart and I fell in love with her. In the few intense months I had the privilege to take care of her – I went online for information and help and, primed by “in loveness” and open to the images and many accounts of suffering, I feelingly awakened to a world that I had prior to that only known peripherally and without feeling a call to action….the world of countless suffering dogs, the overwhelm at shelters and rescues and the many people everywhere trying to make a difference.

Thank you for helping me

I learned that together, our persistent efforts can make a difference, every voice counts, every  effort worth given a shot – and slowly, the situation changes. Change is a process – and it is happening. Everyone is called – everyone is needed – They need YOU too.

As a nation, as a people, as humans everywhere who claim to be conscious or caring, one stage of our development can be measured by the way we treat our animals.

For the benefit of all sentient beings everywhere – including dogs, our eldest companions on this planet…lets do it. Please use the contact form for suggestions, support, comments, questions or ….

Until one has loved an animal, part of one’s soul remains unawakened

Going through the web I come upon stories and images which I sometimes will use under the fair use intention. Please let me know if I need to adjust a post or page. Thank you
